About

Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS) Adaptive Adventures offers an exciting variety of outdoor and wilderness programs to outdoor enthusiasts with disabilities. We are a non-profit organization fuelled by dedicated volunteers and a commitment to the well-being of our community. We offer programs tailored to the needs of our participants, from the beginner to the seasoned wilderness enthusiast. Our hiking trips can explore the extensive trails of Kelowna, or more remote mountain peaks all over Western Canada. We often kayak the serene shores of our own lake, but we’ve braved the wilder waters of the Discovery Islands.  Our cycling program gives everyone access to a ride with the top down. The possibilities are only limited by your enthusiasm, and there is no limit to ours.

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide relief to people with physical and mental disabilities by developing and implementing outdoor and wilderness recreation programs in order to promote independence and inclusion, assist with integration, reduce isolation and improve mental well-being.

Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS) Adaptive Adventures was founded in 2001 by outdoor enthusiast, Troy Becker, who continues as president. The society is registered as a non-profit organization in the province of British Columbia and federally registered as a recognized charity.

Based out of Kelowna, BC, Canada, CRIS Adaptive Adventures endeavors to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to experience a variety of outdoor and wilderness environments through the human power of such equipment as kayaks, tandem bikes and adaptive hiking chairs. CRIS Adaptive Adventures is about adapting to the wilderness to make parks and waterways accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts.

Our boundaries are limited only by the imaginations and desires of our participants.
