CMH Lodge + Heli-Hike Expedition
A premium heli-access alpine experience at CMH’s Bobbie Burns Lodge and a world-class adaptive adventure.
Early September, Bobbie Burns Lodge, BC
· 2 spots remaining · 8 volunteers needed ·
The Situation
Most outdoor programs built for people experiencing disability are often over-modified versions of the real thing. Shorter routes. Simpler terrain. A support ratio that feels more like supervision than partnership.
This isn't that.
CMH Lodge + Heli-Hike Expedition is a 3 days, 2 nights expedition near Bugaboo Provincial Park in the Purcell Mountains.
The terrain is real. The challenge is real. What's different is that we've built every logistical, medical, and equipment consideration into the trip design, so you can focus on the experience, not the barriers.
You decide how far to go every leg of the experience.

Accommodation: Tent & Cabin

What you'll get up to:
8-minute helicopter rides takes you to Mt. Nimbus. The lodge takes care of everything else. What you do with the mountains in between is up to you. The highest-access, most remote alpine experience Adaptive Adventures has ever offered.
What we handle
Adaptive equipment
For this trip we will likely use trailrider chairs to get participants around after the heli experience.
Support on the ground
Our trained guides and volunteers on every day of the trip. Support ratio is dependent on the needs of the specific participants. Nobody gets left behind and nobody gets babysat - we match support to what you actually need.
Medical readiness
Your safety is our top priority! We use a detailed Health & Medical form to make sure our team knows how to support everyone. Our Trip Leader is fully trained and certified as a First Responder, Wilderness First Aid Attendant, Search and Rescue Technician, and Helicopter Rescue Technician, with 25 years experience leading wilderness trips for people with disabilities. In addition, our team compiles a very detailed safety plan to thoughtfully anticipate and mitigate risks, so you can enjoy the adventure with confidence.

Kent Stewart, Participant, KVR Trip 2025
"Being able to get out into the backcountry and travel under my own power is incredibly meaningful. While my friends and family may have the physical ability to do this, there’s so much more involved — planning, equipment, support staff, and cost. All of which would normally make something like this out of reach for me.
Adaptive Adventures makes these trips accessible to anyone willing to give it a try. I feel so fortunate to be among the participants and never take a single moment for granted.”

Mandy Gill, Volunteer, Broken Goat 2025
"The moment that will stay with me forever was seeing Claire cross the finish line — hand outstretched, beaming with joy. I couldn’t hold back the tears. Even when the motor broke minutes into the race, our team refused to give up. We harnessed in, roped up, and powered through, navigating obstacles together with resilience, teamwork, and determination. Every challenge became a memory, and every triumph felt shared. This experience with Adaptive Adventures was empowering, emotional, and truly unforgettable — I felt unstoppable!"

Jenna, Participant, Haida Gwaii Trip 2023
"Accessible Wilderness Expedition showed me what’s possible when adventure meets accessibility. From climbing massive trees and kayaking for the first time, to fishing and learning about Haida Gwaii’s culture, I felt empowered, independent, and truly connected to the world around me.
The staff and volunteers were amazing — their support turned impossible moments into unforgettable triumphs. This trip was lifechanging, and everyone with a disability should have the opportunity to experience it."
